Our community makes us more than just a croquet club, we are friends as well as competitors who have a common interest, and that’s not always Croquet!
Many of us enjoy cooking or playing backgammon, watching snooker or growing our own produce. Our indoor club which plays tournaments through the winter allow us to meet up socially but with a competitibe spitit. In the summer, we hope to open a club in the South Ockendon area of Essex. Wherever possible, we will be looking to run our club at several locations, wether this be from a member’s garden, a public park or hopefully one day some dedicated locations.
The big dream will be to have a permenant lawn based in the Essex area where members can join each other for Croquet and more. And this is where it get’s really good…. the ‘And more’ is entirely up to you. It could be more croquet, but it could be more of something else you enjoy doing. Plant and harvest lawnside, grow sunflowers with family members, produce vegitables in a little patch of your own, or meet up for a spot of chess or cards.
We aim to be the All Seasons Community that encourages more people to find out about Croquet, we want to share our beloved sport with our local communities whilst also invite them to join us and bring their own interests and passions to share.
Since the club has formed in September 2024 we have taken on the monthly two single day tournaments to be run indoors at the Ross Peers Sports Centre in Soham. To help us grow the club and fulfil our aspirations we are looking for players who wish to join us by becoming a member. However this isn’t the only way to support us, perhaps you could consider a small donation to help us with our hall rent. We would also like to work with businesses who would consider partnering us by sponsoring one of our tournaments.
We are also offering a special Christmas party activity, come and join us on the evening of either Saturday 9 November, Saturday 14 December or Saturday 11 January with your colleagues. For a small fee which would help us continue to run our club, we would supply all the equipment needed for you and your teams to have a go at Croquet.
